The SUMITOMO 19HW360 is a solid carbide turning insert engineered for demanding metal cutting applications in CNC and manual lathe operations. This CNMG432EUP insert features the AC520U grade with a PVD-applied ZX proprietary coating, delivering a controlled balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to stainless steel and superalloy workpieces. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, neutral hand orientation, and EUP chip breaker geometry support stable chip control during roughing and medium machining passes. A 0.0313-inch corner radius and 0.5079-inch insert length define the cutting envelope. The insert uses a negative side clearance (N clearance code) with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, optimizing cutting forces on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is intended for use on CNC turning centers and conventional lathes processing stainless steel (ISO material group M) and special or super alloys (ISO material group S). The EUP chip breaker is specifically designed for roughing to medium machining operations where consistent chip evacuation and edge stability are critical. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling on aerospace, medical, and industrial components made from austenitic stainless steels and nickel-based superalloys. The insert seats in CNMG-style toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
Designed for use in CNMG432-style toolholders accepting clamp or pin insert holding. Compatible with ISO CNMG120408 seat geometry. Intended for turning stainless steel (M) and special or super alloy (S) workpieces as defined by ISO primary workpiece material codes M and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten clamp screws as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque and verify tool runout before resuming cutting operations.
