The SUMITOMO 19HVW27 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CCMT32.52ESU and ISO code CCMT09T308N-SU, featuring a diamond-shaped 80-degree geometry with a positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is finished with a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCrN PVD coating under Sumitomo's proprietary Super ZX designation, targeting wear resistance and thermal stability. The ESU chip breaker geometry and neutral hand orientation make this insert suitable for finishing and light roughing cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in standard screw-clamped toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning superalloy workpiece materials, including nickel-based, cobalt-based, and titanium alloys commonly found in aerospace, power generation, and medical manufacturing. The AC510U grade is optimized for the demanding cutting conditions these materials present, including high heat generation and abrasive wear. The neutral hand designation means it can be used in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups depending on the application. It fits CCMT-style screw-on toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 5/32-inch insert thickness.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch thick inserts. Primary workpiece application is superalloy materials per secondary workpiece material code S. Meets ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe indexed position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw into the insert pocket — follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque procedure. Inspect the insert pocket seat and shim for debris or damage before seating the new insert, as contamination can affect insert seating and surface finish.
