The SUMITOMO 19HVAPS is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI code VNMG332ESU and ISO code VNMG160408N-SU, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry at 13 degrees. The AC510U grade with ZX proprietary PVD coating is engineered for demanding cutting conditions, including interrupted cuts and high-heat applications. Insert length is 0.6535 inches, inscribed circle is 0.375 inches, and corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inches). The ESU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is suited for turning operations on superalloys (ISO material code S), making it appropriate for aerospace, energy, and industrial machining environments where nickel-based alloys, titanium, and heat-resistant materials are common workpieces. It fits standard VNMG-style toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. The insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities handling difficult-to-machine materials will find this insert relevant for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use in VNMG-style turning toolholders that accept clamp and pin holding methods. Compatible with ISO material group S (superalloys) as the primary workpiece designation. Refer to ANSI code VNMG332ESU or ISO code VNMG160408N-SU when cross-referencing toolholder pocket specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or removing the insert. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamping pin are free of chips and debris before inserting to ensure proper seating and avoid premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not over-tighten the clamp screw.
