The SUMITOMO 19HV170 is a solid carbide turning insert designated DNMG432EEX in the AC510U manufacturer grade. It carries a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCrN under SUMITOMO's Super ZX proprietary coating process, providing thermal resistance and wear life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake angle of 16 degrees. It is sized with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.6102-inch length, and a 3/16-inch thickness. The EEX chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation. This insert is typically installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators performing precision turning operations.
The 19HV170 is suited for turning applications where superalloy workpiece materials are the primary target, consistent with its secondary workpiece material code S designation. The AC510U grade and Super ZX PVD coating combination addresses the high cutting temperatures and abrasive conditions associated with nickel-based and titanium superalloys. It fits toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods compatible with the DNMG insert style and is applicable in both production-shop and job-shop CNC turning environments requiring tight tolerances.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp and pin holding methods with a 0.2031-inch hole diameter. Compatible with turning applications targeting superalloy workpiece materials (material code S). Conforms to ANSI code DNMG432EEX and ISO code DNMG150408N-EX per ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians; the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamp and pin holding method. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control. Do not exceed the toolholder's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate range for this insert style.
