The SUMITOMO 16CDBCS is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for high-precision machining of non-ferrous metals. Manufactured under Sumitomo grade DA2200, this uncoated insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches decimal) with a corner radius of 1/32 inches (0.0313 inches decimal) and an insert thickness of 5/32 inches. The screw-holding method and NF-CCMX insert style provide rigid seating in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working with aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys rely on this insert for sharp, consistent edge performance across high-speed finishing passes.
The 16CDBCS is suited for turning operations on non-ferrous workpiece materials including aluminum alloys, brass, and copper in both production and job-shop environments. The X chip breaker geometry supports effective chip control during continuous turning. This insert conforms to ANSI code NFCCMX32.52 and ISO code NF-CCMT09T308, making it compatible with standard NF-CCMX series toolholders used on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is sold individually (package quantity of 1).
Designed for use with NF-CCMX series screw-clamp toolholders on CNC lathes and turning centers. Conforms to ANSI code NFCCMX32.52 and ISO code NF-CCMT09T308. Intended for primary use on non-ferrous metal workpieces (material code N).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing to ensure proper insert contact and dimensional accuracy.
