The SUMITOMO 14HA898 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting applications. Manufactured to the ACP200 grade with a PVD coating process, this insert delivers consistent wear resistance and edge stability under demanding cutting conditions. It features an SEMT insert style in a square shape with an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.528 inches. The insert thickness measures 0.190 inches (3.97 mm). Designed for use with the WGX cutter series, this insert is installed by machining professionals and tool-and-die technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling stainless steel and steel workpieces in both production machining and precision job-shop settings. The FG chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation when cutting these materials. It is compatible with the WGX cutter series and is appropriate for applications requiring reliable edge performance across stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel substrates. The insert size code is 13, corresponding to the 13T3 insert size designation.

This insert is installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
