The SUMITOMO 14HA311 is a solid carbide milling insert manufactured to the ACP200 grade and designed for indexable milling cutters used in metal-cutting operations. Featuring an AXMT insert style and parallelogram shape with an included angle of 85 degrees, this insert is engineered for right-hand cutting applications. The PVD coating process applied to the carbide substrate improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding environments. With a corner radius of 0.047 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.472 inches, it delivers consistent performance across a range of milling passes. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This insert is suited for milling steel workpieces, as indicated by its Primary Workpiece Material Code P designation for steel. It is compatible with the WEX2000 cutter series and incorporates the G chip breaker geometry for controlled chip evacuation. The insert is well suited to face milling and shoulder milling operations in production and job shop environments where repeatable insert performance is required. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.394 inches (10.00 mm), making it applicable to moderate-to-aggressive material removal passes on steel components.
Designed for use with the WEX2000 cutter series as stated by the manufacturer. Verify insert pocket dimensions and seating geometry against the cutter body specification before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel following the cutter body manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
