The SUMITOMO 14EK328 is a solid carbide parallelogram milling insert designed for precision metal removal in milling applications. It carries the DL1000 manufacturer grade and features a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating process, which is well suited for cutting non-ferrous metals. The insert measures 0.4720 inches in length, 0.2600 inches in width, and 0.1380 inches in thickness, with a corner radius of 0.0310 inches and an 11-degree relief angle. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working with indexable milling cutters in both production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for use in milling operations on non-ferrous workpiece materials, including aluminum and similar alloys. The AXET insert style and size code 1235 place it within a defined family of indexable tooling. The DLC coating reduces built-up edge and heat generation during cuts, making it a practical choice for high-speed passes on non-ferrous stock. Compatible with the WEX3000 cutter series, it fits toolholders designed for the AXET insert geometry.
Compatible with the WEX3000 cutter series. Designed for toolholders accepting the AXET insert style with size code 1235. Thickness range 0.1250 to 0.1500 inches; length range 0.4500 to 0.5000 inches.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
