The SUMITOMO 144WW4L is a solid carbide milling insert in the AXMT style, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding milling applications. This parallelogram-shaped insert carries SUMITOMO grade ACM300 with a PVD coating process, delivering wear resistance suited for difficult-to-machine materials. It features an 85-degree included angle, a corner radius of 0.122 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.551 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry and chip breaker designation E make this insert well matched to precise, controlled milling passes. Licensed HVAC, metalworking, and machining professionals working in precision manufacturing environments will recognize this insert as a production-grade consumable for indexable milling toolholders.
This insert is intended for milling stainless steel and superalloys, material code M and S classifications. It fits within typical production and job-shop milling scenarios where tool life consistency and edge integrity are critical. The AXMT insert style and WEX3000 cutter series compatibility position this insert for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose indexable milling operations. A right-hand orientation is required for proper installation in compatible toolholders.
Compatible with the SUMITOMO WEX3000 cutter series indexable milling toolholders. Designed for right-hand cutting applications targeting stainless steel and superalloy workpiece materials (ISO material codes M and S).
Indexable milling inserts should be installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate torx or insert-clamping wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before installation. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended speed and feed parameters for this insert geometry and grade.
