Manufactured to insert style SEET with a square shape and size code 13T3, this insert features an ACM300 grade substrate with a PVD coating process that enhances wear resistance and edge retention at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert measures 13.40 mm in cutting edge effective length and 3.97 mm in thickness, with an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches. A 20-degree relief angle supports free-cutting action and reduces cutting forces on difficult workpiece materials. Machining shops and tool-room professionals working in precision milling operations are the primary installers and end users of this insert.
The 144W980 is optimized for primary workpiece materials classified as stainless steel and superalloys, corresponding to material codes M and S. These material groups are common in aerospace, medical device, and industrial pump manufacturing, where tight tolerances and difficult-to-machine alloys demand reliable insert performance. The G chip breaker geometry aids chip control in these materials. This insert is compatible with the WGX cutter series, which governs the seat geometry and axial pocket configuration required for proper seating and clamping.
