The SUMITOMO 144W730 is a solid carbide milling insert engineered for demanding metal removal applications. Manufactured to the ACM300 grade, this ONET-style square insert carries an inscribed circle of 0.5315 inches and a thickness of 0.2717 inches. The solid carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required when cutting stainless steel and superalloys, where edge integrity and thermal stability are critical. This insert is sized to the 13T6 insert size designation and is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals running milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This insert is suited for milling applications involving stainless steel and superalloys, material groups M and S respectively. The ACM300 grade is selected for these materials because of its balance of toughness and wear resistance under the elevated cutting forces and temperatures these alloys generate. It is compatible with the DGC cutter series and fits standard 13-size insert pockets. Typical use cases include face milling, shoulder milling, and slot milling in aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing environments where difficult-to-machine alloys are common.
Designed for use with the DGC cutter series. Insert size code 13, inscribed circle range 0.5100 to 0.6000 inches, thickness range 0.2500 to 0.3500 inches. Primary workpiece material codes M (stainless steel) and S (superalloys).
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the tool assembly secured in a vise or tool holder fixture. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer torque specification for the DGC series body. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating the new insert. Follow the machine tool and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and depth-of-cut parameters when commissioning a new insert in stainless steel or superalloy applications.
