The SUMITOMO 1033363 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DCGT style, designed for precision turning operations on non-ferrous metals. It carries the ANSI code DCGT32.51NAG and ISO code DCGT11T304N-AG, placing it in the DC series with an H1 manufacturer grade. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a positive rake angle of 20 degrees, and a neutral hand orientation. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius, it is built for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and clean surface finishes are required. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in screw-lock toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper alloys where an uncoated carbide grade performs at its best. The C3 material grade and NAG chip breaker geometry are optimized for these materials, helping maintain sharp cutting edges and consistent chip control at higher surface speeds. It suits both light finishing and general turning applications in production and job shop environments where screw-clamped DCGT-style toolholders are in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for screw-lock toolholders accepting DCGT-style inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible toolholder selection should reference ANSI code DCGT32.51NAG or ISO code DCGT11T304N-AG. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metal per the N material code designation.
Turning insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, de-energize the machine, engage the spindle lock, and follow the machine manufacturer lockout procedure. Use the correct Torx or hex key to release and reseat the screw-clamp mechanism without over-torquing the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before installing a new insert.
