The STARRETT 57061 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar measuring 1 inch thick, 4 inches wide, and 18 inches long. O1 tool steel is a general-purpose cold-work steel valued for its consistent hardening response, good wear resistance, and dimensional stability after heat treat. This flat stock is supplied in the annealed condition, ready for machining, grinding, and fabrication before oil-quench hardening. Thickness and width tolerances hold to +0.0100 to +0.0150 inches, and length tolerance is +0.2500 inches. Squareness on all edges is held to 0.003 inches per inch of length. Machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial fabricators typically stock this material for jigs, fixtures, gauges, dies, and punches.
This flat stock is suited for tool rooms, production shops, and maintenance departments that require a reliable AISI O1 grade material in a ready-to-machine bar form. At 1 inch thick and 4 inches wide, the bar provides substantial cross-section for blanking die plates, forming tooling, or precision fixture components. The 18-inch length accommodates common tooling blank applications without requiring resawing in most cases. The piece weight of approximately 20.4 pounds reflects the full bar as shipped.
Designed as a standard AISI O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock blank suitable for general tool room and die shop applications requiring cold-work steel in flat bar form.
O1 tool steel flat stock is worked by qualified machinists and tool and die makers using conventional milling, turning, grinding, and EDM equipment. Material should be hardened and tempered by a qualified heat treater following established AISI O1 procedures using an appropriate oil quench medium. Always wear appropriate PPE when cutting, grinding, or handling bar stock with sharp edges. Verify final dimensions after any stress-relief or heat-treat operation, as minor dimensional changes may occur.
