The SPIRAX SARCO 50928 is a float and thermostatic (F and T) steam trap designed to continuously discharge condensate and non-condensable gases from steam systems. It combines a float-operated condensate valve with a thermostatic air vent, allowing automatic removal of both liquid condensate and air without live steam loss. Rated for a maximum working pressure (PMO) of 30 PSIG and a maximum allowable pressure (PMA) of 125 PSIG at 450 degrees F, this trap is built for reliable, low-maintenance service in process and heating steam lines. It connects via 3/4-inch end connections and is installed by licensed steam fitters, HVAC technicians, or industrial plumbers.
The 50928 is suited for residential and light commercial steam heating systems as well as industrial process applications operating within its pressure and temperature ratings. Typical installation points include heat exchangers, unit heaters, steam coils, and drip legs on steam distribution mains. Its float and thermostatic design makes it especially effective in applications with variable condensate loads where continuous drainage is required. Only install this trap in systems that operate at or below its rated PMO of 30 PSIG and TMA of 450 degrees F.
Designed as an OEM-style float and thermostatic steam trap for steam heating and process systems operating at or below 30 PSIG maximum working pressure with 3/4-inch pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed pipefitter, steam fitter, or plumber in accordance with applicable local mechanical codes and ASME guidelines. Isolate and fully depressurize the steam system and allow all components to cool before removing the existing trap or installing the new unit. Install the trap in the correct orientation as indicated by the manufacturer flow arrow, and ensure upstream strainer screens are clean to protect the float mechanism. Never exceed the rated PMO or TMA values marked on the trap body.
