The SPI Z9012 is a seven-piece micrometer anvil set designed to expand the measurement capability of standard outside micrometers covering 1 to 12 inches of range. Each anvil in the set serves a distinct contact geometry, allowing a single micrometer frame to measure workpiece features that a standard flat anvil cannot reach. Anvil types included are Ball, Blade, Comparator, Disk, Knife, Spline, and Super Spline. The set weighs 0.5 pounds, making it a compact addition to a machinist or metrology toolbox. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision measurement technicians are the primary users of this accessory.
This anvil set is suited for precision inspection environments where a single micrometer must handle a variety of part geometries. Ball anvils contact grooves and concave surfaces. Blade and knife anvils reach into narrow slots and thread roots. Disk and comparator anvils provide flat reference contact on irregular surfaces. Spline and Super Spline anvils address splined shaft and gear-tooth measurement tasks. The set is appropriate for both production floor and tool room use wherever a 1 to 12 inch micrometer is in service.
Designed for use with 1 to 12 inch outside micrometers that accept interchangeable anvils.
Anvil replacement on a micrometer should be performed by a qualified machinist or metrology technician familiar with the specific micrometer model. Power down or de-energize any associated measuring system before swapping anvils. Ensure the anvil threads are clean and fully seated before taking measurements. Verify calibration of the micrometer after any anvil change using a certified gauge block or standard.
