The SPI Z6645 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with test indicators in precision measurement applications. The ball tip measures 0.04 inches in diameter and the overall contact point length is 1.437 inches. Carbide construction provides excellent hardness and wear resistance, making this contact point suitable for repeated use in high-cycle inspection environments. It is installed and used by machinists, quality control technicians, and metrology professionals who require consistent, accurate surface contact during indicator-based measurement tasks.
This contact point is intended for use with Brown and Sharpe test indicators in shop-floor and lab measurement setups. It is suited for both light production inspection and precision layout work where a small-diameter ball tip is needed to reach into tight bores, grooves, or contoured surfaces that a standard flat or dovetail tip cannot access reliably.
Designed for use with Brown and Sharpe test indicators.
Contact point replacement is typically performed by metrology technicians or machinists using standard hand tools such as a small wrench or driver appropriate for the indicator thread. Ensure the indicator is removed from any active measuring setup before swapping contact points. Do not overtighten the contact point, as this can damage the indicator spindle threads. Verify thread engagement and tip alignment before returning the indicator to service.
