The SPI CMS160726104 is a 10-piece dial test indicator kit designed for precise surface, runout, and tolerance measurements in machining, toolroom, and quality control applications. The horizontal-style indicator features a 0-15-0 dial reading with 0.0005-inch graduations and a stated accuracy of 0.0012 inches. The 1.18-inch dial face is white with a jeweled movement and automatic reversal, making it suitable for small deflection checks where a standard plunger-type indicator would be impractical. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metrology staff are the primary users of this kit.
This kit is built for shop floor and toolroom use where repeated indicator setups are required across varying fixture and spindle configurations. The included dovetail stems in two sizes, an adapter sleeve, contact points, a gage bar with clamp, and an axial support with stem give technicians the mounting options needed to position the indicator in tight or unconventional orientations. The kit is appropriate for use on mills, lathes, surface plates, and CMM setups where a compact, low-force indicator is required.
Designed for use with standard dovetail-mount indicator holders and gage bar clamp setups common in toolroom and inspection environments. Includes a 5/32-inch to 3/8-inch adapter sleeve to expand mounting compatibility.
Dial test indicators of this type are installed by machinists and metrology technicians using dovetail stems or clamp-style gage bars mounted to a magnetic base, spindle holder, or fixture arm. Ensure all clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before securing the stem to avoid introducing tilt error. Do not overtighten the dovetail clamp, as excessive clamping force can distort the stem and affect accuracy. Verify the contact point is seated fully and that the indicator stylus is positioned at the correct approach angle before taking measurements.
