The SPI CMS160726030 is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for precision measurement in machining, inspection, and metrology applications. It measures a maximum range of 0.20 mm per revolution with a dial graduation of 0.002 mm and an accuracy of 0.004 mm, making it suitable for surface flatness checks, runout verification, and fine tolerance setups. The indicator features a fully jeweled movement for reduced friction and extended service life, a satin chrome finish for corrosion resistance, and a 32 mm white dial face with a 0-100-0 reading for bidirectional measurement. It ships with a short-form certificate of calibration traceable to NIST standards. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and quality control inspectors typically deploy this instrument on mill tables, surface plates, and inspection fixtures.
This indicator is suited for horizontal mounting applications where a low-profile gauge is required alongside a workpiece or fixture. The dovetail mount style provides universal positioning capability and accepts standard dovetail extensions. The included accessory kit covers common setup configurations out of the box, including a height gage bar, universal clamp, and two contact points with a 2.00 mm ball diameter and 13.50 mm contact point length. It is appropriate for both shop-floor use and dedicated inspection room environments requiring NIST-traceable calibration documentation.
Designed for use with standard dovetail-style indicator holders, arms, and fixtures; supplied dovetail extensions are sized for 5/32 inch and 3/8 inch dovetail mounts commonly found on magnetic bases, height gages, and surface plate inspection setups.
Installation is performed by machinists or metrology technicians using standard dovetail clamping hardware. Ensure the indicator spindle axis is aligned parallel to the measurement direction to avoid cosine error. Do not over-tighten the clamping screw on the dovetail shank, as excessive force can distort the body and affect calibration. Store the indicator in the fitted case when not in use to protect the jeweled movement and contact points.
