The SPI CMS160714050 is a 4-piece mechanical outside micrometer set covering a measurement range of 0 to 4 inches in one-inch increments. Each micrometer features a ratchet stop thimble for consistent, repeatable measuring force and solid carbide measuring faces for long-term wear resistance. A digital counter assists with reading thimble revolutions, reducing misreads during fast-paced inspection work. Accuracy is rated to 0.0001 inches, with a stated tolerance of 0.0002 inches. The set ships calibrated with NIST-traceable certification included, making it ready for use in quality-controlled environments without additional calibration steps. Finish is painted. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control inspectors are the primary users.
This micrometer set is suited for dimensional inspection of external workpiece features in manufacturing, tool-and-die, machining, and maintenance environments. The four-piece configuration covers the full 0 to 4 inch span, allowing a single set to handle a wide range of part sizes without switching instruments. The rotating spindle design and ratchet stop thimble make the set appropriate for production-floor and bench inspection use where measurement consistency and speed both matter.
Designed as a general-purpose outside micrometer set for external dimensional measurement of cylindrical, flat, and irregular workpiece features across the 0 to 4 inch range.
Micrometers require no installation but should be stored in their protective case when not in use to prevent damage to the measuring faces and spindle threads. Before each use, verify the zero setting against a known standard and clean the measuring faces with a lint-free cloth. Avoid dropping or stacking instruments, as impact can affect calibration. Recalibration should follow your facility quality management schedule or applicable metrology standards.
