The SPI CMS160712103 is a mechanical groove micrometer designed for precision internal and external groove measurements. It measures inside groove dimensions from 1.6 to 26.5mm and outside groove dimensions from 0 to 25mm, with a graduation and accuracy of 0.01mm. The measuring disc diameter is 6.5mm, making it well suited for narrow groove profiles. Carbide anvil and spindle construction provides durability and wear resistance under repeated use. The chrome finish offers corrosion resistance in shop environments. A NIST traceability certification and short-form calibration certificate are included. This tool is used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and quality control inspectors.
The CMS160712103 is suited for dimensional inspection work where groove width, depth approach, and inside-outside measurements require tight tolerances. The non-rotating spindle design prevents measurement error caused by spindle rotation during contact. The 35.5mm reach length allows access to grooves recessed from a part face. It is commonly used in manufacturing environments, machine shops, and precision fabrication settings where groove geometry must be verified against engineering specifications.
Designed as a standard mechanical groove micrometer for general-purpose dimensional inspection of inside and outside groove features on machined components.
This instrument requires no installation but should be handled and stored according to precision metrology standards. Before use, verify calibration currency against the included certificate and clean contact surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Do not overtighten the spindle against the workpiece, as excessive force will affect measurement accuracy and may damage carbide contact faces. Store in the included case when not in use to protect the instrument from temperature fluctuation and contamination.
