The SPI 34-479-6 is a single-ring threaded ring gage designed to verify the external thread dimensions of M8 x 1.00 metric fasteners and threaded components to Class 6G tolerance. Manufactured from Oil Hardened Non-Shrinking Steel (OHNS), this gage provides the dimensional stability and surface hardness required for repeated, accurate inspection use. It is a Go-type gage, confirming that a threaded part falls within the acceptable lower limit of the 6G tolerance range. Precision inspection tools of this type are standard equipment in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and quality control departments where threaded fastener specifications must be verified to drawing requirements.
This gage is used wherever M8 x 1.00 metric external threads must be inspected for conformance to Class 6G tolerances, which represent the standard medium-clearance fit widely used in general mechanical assembly. Typical applications include incoming inspection of threaded fasteners, in-process thread verification on machined parts, and final quality audits in production environments. The included NPL Traceability Certification makes it suitable for use in documented quality systems requiring traceable calibration records, including ISO 9001-compliant inspection processes.
Designed for inspection of M8 x 1.00 externally threaded components and fasteners manufactured to Class 6G metric thread tolerances per standard metric thread specifications.
Threaded ring gages are handled and used by quality technicians, machinists, and inspection personnel rather than installed in a system. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent surface damage and contamination. Apply a light coat of clean instrument oil before and after use to protect the gaged surfaces from corrosion. Do not force the gage onto a thread; if resistance is felt, the thread may be out of tolerance or contaminated and should be inspected before proceeding.
