The SPI 34-278-2 is a single-end No Go plug thread gage designed to verify that an internal thread does not exceed its maximum material condition. Manufactured from steel, this gage checks 7/16-14 thread size to the 6H tolerance class per ANSI standards. It is used by machinists, quality control technicians, and maintenance professionals to confirm that tapped holes reject oversized or out-of-tolerance threads before assembly. The gage ships without a handle; a Size 2 handle is required for use and must be sourced separately. NIST traceability certification is included, supporting documentation requirements in calibrated inspection environments.
This gage is suited for production floor inspection, incoming quality checks, and maintenance applications where 7/16-14 internally threaded components must be verified for conformance. It is appropriate for both shop-floor and tool-room environments where ANSI-compliant thread inspection is required. The single-end No Go design allows focused rejection testing without the Go member, making it a practical addition to an existing gage set where the Go member is already on hand.
Designed for use with a Size 2 plug gage handle (not included) to inspect 7/16-14 internally threaded components requiring 6H tolerance class verification.
Thread gages are inspection tools and do not require permanent installation. A licensed or trained metrologist, machinist, or QC technician should perform thread inspection using a properly sized handle. Do not force the No Go gage into a thread; entry of more than two turns indicates the thread is out of tolerance. Store gages in a protective case away from abrasives and corrosive materials to preserve calibration integrity.
