The SPI 29-036-1 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage machined to a 0.036-inch nominal diameter with a tolerance of 0.0002 inches. Plug gages are precision go/no-go inspection tools used to verify whether a drilled, reamed, or punched hole falls within an acceptable dimensional range. This gage is made from steel and is sized for very small-diameter hole inspection, making it a standard tool in quality control, machine shop inspection, and production floor verification workflows. Machinists, tool and die makers, and QC inspectors are the primary users.
This gage is suited for inspecting small-diameter holes in manufactured components across general metalworking, aerospace, and precision machining applications. It is used wherever a drilled or reamed hole at or near 0.036 inches must be confirmed within tight tolerance before a part advances to the next production stage. The compact size and steel construction make it appropriate for both bench inspection and in-process checks on the machine floor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock plug gage for use with any inspection or quality-control system requiring Class ZZ Plus small-diameter hole gaging at 0.036 inches nominal.
Plug gages are handled and used by machinists and QC inspectors. Always clean the gage and the hole being inspected before use to prevent debris from affecting measurement accuracy. Store the gage in a protective case when not in use to prevent surface damage that could alter tolerance readings. Do not force a plug gage into a hole, as this can damage both the gage and the workpiece.
