The SPI 23-194-4 is a truncated taperlock thread plug gage used to inspect 3/4-10 UNC threaded holes for dimensional conformance. The set includes both a Go and No Go member, allowing a technician to verify that an internal thread accepts a mating fastener at the minimum material condition and rejects threads that are out of tolerance at the maximum material condition. Manufactured from tool steel, this gage is built to withstand the wear demands of production inspection environments. The 3-inch handle provides secure grip and consistent seating during use. This gage is classified to Class 2A tolerance, matching the most common unified coarse thread fastener standard used in general industrial assembly.
This gage is suited for inspection of 3/4-10 UNC tapped holes in manufacturing, machining, and fabrication operations. Quality control inspectors, machinists, and maintenance technicians use taperlock thread plug gages when verifying threaded bores on structural components, machinery housings, and mechanical assemblies. The truncated profile reduces gage wear in high-volume inspection cycles by minimizing contact area on the thread flanks while still providing a reliable pass-fail check. The taperlock design allows the Go and No Go gage members to be mounted on a single handle, reducing handling time on the shop floor.
Designed for inspection of 3/4-10 UNC internal threads conforming to Class 2A tolerance specifications, consistent with ASME B1.2 thread gage standards for unified inch screw threads.
Thread plug gages should be handled and stored carefully to prevent nicking or corrosion that would affect gage accuracy. Before use, clean the threaded hole and gage members to remove chips, coolant, and debris. The Go member should pass through the full length of the thread under hand pressure only - never force a thread gage with tools. Gages should be periodically calibrated per your quality management system requirements to maintain traceability.
