The SPI 23-152-2 is a truncated taperlock thread plug gage designed to verify internal thread dimensions on 1/4-20 UNC fastener applications. The set includes both Go and No Go members, allowing technicians to confirm that threads fall within Class 2A tolerance limits in a single inspection operation. The gage is machined from tool steel for durability and dimensional stability under repeated use. The taperlock design provides a secure, repeatable connection between the gage member and the 1-inch handle, reducing play and maintaining accuracy across high-cycle inspection environments. This gage is used by machinists, quality control inspectors, and toolroom personnel working to ASME thread standards.
This gage is suited for production and incoming inspection of 1/4-20 UNC threaded holes in residential, commercial, and industrial manufacturing settings. It is appropriate for use in machine shops, assembly lines, and quality control departments where thread verification to Class 2A tolerances is required. The Go member confirms that the thread is within the minimum material condition, while the No Go member confirms that the thread has not been cut oversize. Both members are included in this set along with the handle.
Designed for inspection of internal 1/4-20 UNC threaded features held to Class 2A tolerances per applicable ASME thread gage standards.
Thread plug gages are installed and operated by machinists or quality control personnel trained in gage usage and thread inspection procedures. Before use, confirm the gage members are clean and free of debris that could affect measurement accuracy. Handle the gage members carefully to avoid dropping or contact with abrasive surfaces, as any damage to the thread form will compromise measurement results. Store the gage in its case when not in use to protect the thread members from corrosion and physical damage.
