The SPI 22-001-2 is a ball-style contact point designed for use with dial test indicators in precision measurement applications. The contact tip is formed from stainless steel and measures 0.078 inches in ball diameter with a contact point length of 0.8 inches. This replacement or spare contact point threads into the indicator spindle and provides a consistent, hard contact surface for runout checks, surface comparisons, and bore measurement work. Metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control personnel are the primary users. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion and maintains dimensional stability under repeated contact cycles.
This contact point is sized for use with the SPI Integral Series of test indicators. It is suited to precision shop environments including tool rooms, inspection departments, and CNC setup areas where dial test indicators are used to verify part geometry, fixture alignment, or machine axis repeatability. The 0.078 inch ball tip is appropriate for applications requiring contact on small radii, grooves, or contoured surfaces where a flat or chisel-style tip would not seat correctly.
Designed for use with the SPI Integral Series of test indicators.
Contact points are installed and removed by a licensed or trained metrology technician or machinist using the appropriate wrench or pin spanner for the indicator spindle thread. Handle the ball tip carefully to avoid nicking or contaminating the contact surface, as surface damage will affect measurement accuracy. Do not overtighten the contact point into the indicator spindle, as this can damage the thread or distort the tip geometry. Store contact points in a clean, dry location when not in use to protect the stainless steel surface.
