The SPI 21-266-2 is an offset flat needle contact point designed for use with dial indicators in precision measurement applications. Threaded to the AGD Group 1 industry standard with a 4-48 thread size, it attaches securely to compatible indicator stems. The contact point measures 1 inch in length with a 0.06-inch tip diameter, providing accurate surface contact during inspection tasks. Manufactured from black oxide steel, it offers corrosion resistance and durability under regular shop use. This type of contact point is commonly installed by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool and die professionals who require consistent, repeatable measurement contact geometry.
This contact point is suited for use in machine shops, inspection rooms, and manufacturing environments where dial indicators are used to measure surface deviation, runout, concentricity, or part alignment. The offset flat needle profile allows access to recessed surfaces or features that a standard straight contact point cannot reach. It is a direct-mount accessory compatible with AGD Group 1 dial indicators accepting a 4-48 threaded contact point.
Designed for use with dial indicators accepting a 4-48 threaded contact point in the AGD Group 1 industry designation.
Installation is performed by hand-threading the contact point into the indicator stem — no special tools are required, but avoid overtightening to prevent thread damage on the indicator body. Ensure the dial indicator is removed from the measuring setup and at rest before changing contact points. Verify thread engagement is complete and the contact point seats flush before returning the indicator to service.
