The SPI 21-243-1 is a cone-style contact point designed for use with dial indicators. It features a 4-48 thread for secure attachment and a contact point length of 5/8 inches (0.6250 inches decimal). The tip diameter is 1/64 inch, making it suitable for precise measurement contact in tight or recessed locations. Manufactured from black oxide steel, this contact point meets AGD Group 1 industry standards. It is installed by metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control professionals who require reliable, repeatable gauge tip contact during inspection work.
This contact point is intended for dial indicators used in machine shop, manufacturing, and quality assurance environments. The cone geometry allows contact with angled surfaces, inside chamfers, and recessed features where a flat or ball-style tip would not seat properly. It is a direct-mount replacement tip that threads into standard dial indicator stems using the 4-48 thread specification common to AGD Group 1 instruments.
Designed for use with dial indicators conforming to AGD Group 1 specifications with a 4-48 thread stem. Verify thread size and group designation on your indicator before installation.
Installation is performed by hand or with a small wrench using the 4-48 threaded stem of the dial indicator. Remove the existing contact point before threading on the replacement to avoid cross-threading. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the fine 4-48 thread on the indicator spindle. Ensure the indicator is zeroed and calibrated after changing contact points.
