The SPI 21-066-6 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with dial and digital test indicators. It replaces the standard contact point to provide a spherical measuring tip suited for surfaces that require a rolling or curved contact rather than a flat or sharp point. The ball tip measures 0.078 inches in diameter and the overall contact point length is 2.75 inches. Carbide construction delivers high wear resistance, making this contact point appropriate for repeated measurements in production or inspection environments. Metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control personnel are the primary users.
This contact point is used in applications where precise runout, surface, or bore measurements are taken with Interapid test indicators. It suits inspection setups on machine tools, surface plates, and CMM fixtures in both shop-floor and controlled metrology environments. The 2.75 inch length provides added reach for setups where the indicator body must be set back from the workpiece. The carbide tip holds its geometry longer than steel under continuous production use.

Contact point installation and replacement is performed by machinists or metrology technicians. Thread the contact point into the indicator spindle by hand until snug, then tighten only as specified by the indicator manufacturer to avoid damaging the spindle thread. Do not overtighten carbide-tipped contact points, as carbide is brittle and may fracture under excessive side load or torque. Verify indicator calibration after any contact point change before returning the instrument to service.
