The SPI 21-064-1 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with Interapid test indicators. It features a 0.031-inch ball diameter and a contact point length of 1-3/4 inches. Carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suitable for repeated contact measurement tasks. This type of contact point is a precision accessory used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and quality control professionals when taking close-tolerance runout, alignment, or surface deviation readings. The small ball tip allows access to tight bores and recessed surfaces that standard contact points cannot reach reliably.
This contact point is intended for use with Interapid test indicators in toolroom, machining, and inspection environments. It is well suited for setups on surface plates, milling machines, lathes, and CMM fixtures where a small-diameter tip is needed to contact narrow grooves, fine threads, or small-radius surfaces. The 1-3/4-inch length provides clearance for indicator placement in confined workholding setups.
Designed for use with Interapid test indicators as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or metrology technician. Before swapping contact points, ensure the test indicator is removed from any active setup and the spindle or mounting arm is secured. Use the appropriate wrench or driver to thread the contact point into the indicator stem without over-torquing the tip. Verify seating and zero the indicator before taking measurements.
