The SPI 19-297-1 is a Class ZZ minus plug pin gage used to verify hole diameters in precision machining and inspection work. It measures a nominal diameter of 0.2970 inches with a minus tolerance of 0.0002 inches, confirming the gage sits at the low end of the Class ZZ tolerance band. The body is machined from steel for dimensional stability and resistance to wear during repeated use. Metrologists, quality control inspectors, and machinists use plug gages like this one to perform go/no-go checks on drilled, reamed, or bored holes to ensure conformance to print tolerances.
This gage is suited for dimensional inspection in manufacturing, toolroom, and job shop environments. It is appropriate for both incoming inspection of machined parts and in-process quality checks on production lines. The 0.2970-inch size targets holes common in mechanical assemblies, fastener clearance verification, and precision bore inspection. Its compact form allows use in tight spaces and on small workpieces where larger inspection equipment cannot reach.
Designed as an OEM-style plug pin gage for use with standard pin gage handles and gage block sets conforming to Class ZZ tolerance specifications in general-purpose dimensional inspection applications.
Plug pin gages are handled and used by quality control technicians and machinists trained in dimensional metrology. Before use, clean the gage and the hole being inspected to remove chips, coolant, and debris that could cause false readings or damage the gage surface. Apply light gage oil or use dry insertion depending on the inspection protocol in place at your facility. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent nicks, corrosion, and wear that would invalidate its calibration.
