The SPI 15-993-9 is a pen-style vibration meter designed for field measurement of vibration and frequency in mechanical and HVAC systems. The compact pen form factor fits in a shirt pocket and deploys quickly on rotating equipment, motor housings, bearing assemblies, and ductwork. The LCD display provides clear readout in the field without backlighting concerns in well-lit environments. Powered by two 1.5V batteries included in the package, this instrument requires no external power source. It measures velocity up to 19.99 inches per second, making it suitable for routine predictive maintenance checks on fans, pumps, compressors, and other rotating components.
The 15-993-9 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC service, mechanical maintenance, and industrial equipment inspection. Technicians use pen vibration meters during preventive maintenance rounds to identify abnormal vibration signatures on motors, blowers, and compressors before failures occur. The lightweight plastic housing and battery operation make it practical for single-technician field use without a bench setup. It is appropriate for any trade professional who performs regular equipment health checks on rotating or reciprocating machinery.
Designed as a general-purpose handheld vibration measurement instrument for use on rotating and reciprocating mechanical equipment in HVAC, industrial, and mechanical maintenance applications.
This instrument is used by HVAC technicians, mechanical contractors, and maintenance professionals for non-invasive vibration checks on operating equipment. No installation is required. Power down and lock out equipment before making contact with any housing if surface measurement involves reaching into energized enclosures. Follow applicable NFPA 70E safe work practices when working near energized electrical components during measurement activities.
