The SPI 14-413-9 is a magnetic-base indicator positioner holder designed for precision measurement setups in machine shops, manufacturing environments, and metrology applications. It features a 260-pound magnetic pull force and a fine-adjustment mechanism that allows precise positioning of dial indicators and similar gauging instruments. The assembly includes a heavy-duty arm with a post-and-adjustable-rod configuration, giving the technician multiple axes of movement. At 17 inches overall length, it reaches across most standard workpiece setups. Machinists, quality control technicians, and toolroom professionals install this type of holder routinely in CNC and manual machining environments.
This holder is suited for use on any ferromagnetic machine surface, including surface plates, lathe beds, mill tables, and granite or steel inspection tables where a magnetic base can seat securely. The rectangular flat base provides stable contact and resists tipping under arm extension loads. It is appropriate for both production-floor and inspection-room use where repeatability and rigid indicator mounting are required. The fine-adjustment feature is particularly useful when zeroing a dial indicator or test indicator to a reference surface.
Designed as a universal magnetic-base indicator holder compatible with standard dial indicators and test indicators that mount via conventional dovetail or post-style indicator stems commonly used in machining and inspection applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or quality technicians without special tools. Engage the magnetic base only on clean, flat ferromagnetic surfaces free of chips and coolant to ensure full rated pull. Deactivate the magnet before repositioning the arm to avoid scratching precision reference surfaces. Secure all arm joints and the fine-adjustment lock before taking measurements to prevent indicator drift.
