The SPI 13-866-9 is a flexible 12-inch steel rule designed for precision measurement in tight or curved surfaces where a rigid rule cannot lie flat. The rule features a 4R graduation pattern with four scales: 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, and 1/8 inch, allowing tradespeople to take readings at the resolution their application demands. The satin chrome-plated finish reduces glare under shop lighting and provides corrosion resistance for daily use. At 0.020 inches thick and 1/2 inch wide, this rule fits into shallow grooves, slots, and recesses that wider tools cannot access. Machinists, pipefitters, HVAC techs, and plumbers reach for this type of rule when standard rigid rules cannot conform to the workpiece.
This rule is suited for layout, measurement, and inspection tasks in residential and commercial mechanical and trade work. Its horizontal scale orientation and slim profile make it a practical addition to a technician's kit for measuring pipe clearances, duct openings, flange depths, and other confined dimensions. The flexible body allows it to bend with contoured or curved surfaces without permanent deformation.
Designed as a general-purpose flexible steel rule suitable for machining, mechanical trades, HVAC, plumbing, and general fabrication measurement applications.
No installation is required for this measuring tool. Handle with care to avoid permanent kinking beyond the rule's intended flex range. Keep clean and dry to preserve the satin chrome finish and scale legibility. Store flat or rolled loosely — do not crease.
