The SPI 13-698-6 is a cast iron comparator gage stand designed for precision measurement setups in machine shops, inspection rooms, and production floor environments. The stand features a heavy rectangular cast iron base that provides stable, vibration-resistant support during surface comparison measurements. It rises to an overall height of 8 inches and includes a round anvil measuring 2-5/16 inches in diameter. A fine adjustment mechanism allows the technician to position the comparator precisely without disturbing the workpiece. The included holder is ready to accept a standard comparator gage head. Machinists, quality control technicians, and tool room personnel are the primary users of this stand.
This stand suits bench-top inspection tasks where a flat, stable reference surface is needed alongside a comparator gage. The rectangular base footprint of 6 inches in length and 3-7/8 inches in width keeps the unit compact enough for crowded inspection benches while still providing sufficient mass to resist tipping. The 8-inch post height accommodates a range of part sizes placed on the anvil surface. Fine positioning and quick-adjustment capability make it appropriate for repetitive comparative measurements in both light production and tool-room inspection work.
Designed as an OEM-style comparator gage stand compatible with standard comparator gage heads. Dial indicator is not included and must be sourced separately.
Place the stand on a clean, flat inspection surface or surface plate before mounting the comparator gage head. Ensure the base is free of chips and debris that could affect the reference plane. Tighten the holder clamp securely before taking measurements to prevent gage head drift. No special tools or codes are required for setup, but users should follow standard metrology practices to maintain measurement accuracy.
