The SPECO TVIUTP is an HD-TVI balun designed to transmit high-definition video signals over unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling. Baluns of this type convert coaxial-based HD-TVI signals to a format compatible with standard CAT5e or CAT6 structured wiring, allowing installers to run video across existing low-voltage cable infrastructure. This unit is sold individually and is typically installed by low-voltage security technicians and AV integrators working on analog HD surveillance systems. It bridges coaxial and UTP wiring schemes without signal loss under normal installation conditions.
The TVIUTP is suited for use in residential and light commercial HD-TVI camera installations where coaxial cable runs are impractical or where existing UTP infrastructure is already in place. It fits into retrofit and new-construction surveillance projects alike, allowing technicians to extend camera feeds over structured cabling without running new coax. This makes it a practical solution when routing cable through finished walls or conduit already populated with twisted pair wire.
Designed as an OEM-style accessory for HD-TVI analog surveillance systems using UTP cabling infrastructure.
Installation is typically performed by licensed low-voltage technicians or security system integrators. Power down the camera and DVR before making any wiring connections. Use properly terminated RJ45 connectors on the UTP side and ensure coaxial connections are tight and weatherproofed where applicable. Follow local low-voltage wiring codes and any applicable NEC guidelines for signal cabling.
