The SPECO pbm240a is a 240-watt RMS PA mixer amplifier designed for professional public address and distributed audio installations. It delivers 240W of RMS output power across five independently zoned 70V or 25V speaker outputs, plus a non-zoned 4/8 ohm output for direct-drive speaker loads. A master digital volume control with front-panel display, individual input volume controls, and front-panel bass and treble adjustments give installers precise system-level control. The unit includes phantom power on all microphone inputs, Mic1 priority paging, and a front-panel digital lock to prevent unauthorized adjustment. Licensed low-voltage technicians and professional audio-visual integrators are the primary installers.
The pbm240a suits commercial and institutional distributed audio applications including retail spaces, restaurants, schools, houses of worship, and office buildings. The module bay allows system expansion to match site requirements. A telephone paging input and music-on-hold output support paging-over-background-music workflows common in multi-zone commercial installs. The included rack-mounting kit fits standard 19-inch equipment racks, and an IR remote provides convenient system-level control without front-panel access.
Designed for use in professional distributed audio and PA systems utilizing 70V or 25V constant-voltage speaker wiring, as well as direct 4/8 ohm speaker loads. The module bay supports optional expansion modules for additional system functionality.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or audio-visual technician in accordance with applicable local electrical codes and NEC Article 640 governing audio signal processing equipment. Power down the amplifier completely before making any speaker, microphone, or line-level connections. Rack-mount the unit with adequate ventilation clearance above and below the chassis to prevent thermal shutdown under load. Verify speaker line impedance and wiring polarity before applying power to avoid output stage damage.
