The SPEARS 54211192450 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal sizes in a single inline fitting. Rated to 140 degrees F and manufactured from rigid PVC, this fitting transitions a 1-1/4 inch line down to a 1 inch line using a socket end style on both ends. At 0.17 pounds and 2-11/16 inches in length, it is a compact, lightweight connector suited for pressurized water and fluid distribution systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and industrial fluid handling applications where a reduction in pipe diameter is required.
This reducing coupling is used in SCH 40 PVC piping systems where flow must be transitioned between a 1-1/4 inch and a 1 inch nominal pipe. Typical installations include potable water supply lines, irrigation manifolds, pool and spa plumbing, and general-purpose fluid systems. The socket end style accepts solvent-welded pipe connections on both ends for a permanent, leak-resistant joint. Domestic manufacture and compliance with NSF standards make this fitting appropriate for potable water applications.
Designed for use with Schedule 40 PVC pipe in 1-1/4 inch and 1 inch nominal sizes. Compatible with standard solvent-weld socket fittings and pipe conforming to ASTM D1785 and ASTM D2466 specifications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system fully before cutting into an existing line. Clean and dry pipe ends before applying PVC primer and solvent cement; allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Do not use this fitting with CPVC, ABS, or other non-PVC pipe without confirming chemical compatibility of the solvent cement used.
