The SPEARS 4202-010 is a 1-inch nominal CPVC standard tee fitting designed for fire sprinkler piping systems. It features a socket x socket x brass female NPT (FNPT) end configuration and is pressure-rated to 175 psi at a maximum temperature of 150 degrees F. Manufactured using a molded process, this fitting incorporates Spears patented Special Reinforced (SR) plastic female thread design, which uses a precompression geometry to counteract the radial stress created when tapered pipe threads are assembled. The result is a threaded joint that holds up in standard installations and resists failure even in cases of over-tightening. Licensed fire sprinkler contractors and plumbers install this fitting in wet-pipe and dry-pipe CPVC fire protection systems.
This tee is intended for use in residential and light commercial fire sprinkler systems where CPVC piping is specified. The orange color identifies it as a FlameGuard fire sprinkler fitting, which is distinct from standard plumbing CPVC. Typical applications include branch-line tee connections in systems designed and installed under NFPA 13, NFPA 13D, and NFPA 13R. It is domestically manufactured in the United States.
Designed for use in CPVC fire sprinkler piping systems installed under NFPA 13, NFPA 13D, and NFPA 13R. Meets ASTM D-1784, ASTM F-438, and ASTM F-439 standards. UL Listed.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire sprinkler contractor in accordance with NFPA 13, 13D, or 13R and all applicable local codes. Depressurize and drain the system before cutting into an existing line. Use only CPVC-compatible primer and solvent cement rated for fire sprinkler applications on the socket ends; do not use standard plumbing-grade CPVC cement. Thread the brass FNPT port with care and do not over-torque metal-to-plastic connections beyond hand-tight plus standard turns per the system manufacturer guidelines.
