The SOUTHWIRE N-50600 is a hot-dip galvanized steel conduit nipple designed to extend a run of threaded rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC). The nipple measures 0.5 inches trade size by 6 inches in length and is fabricated from galvanized steel for corrosion resistance in demanding installation environments. Both ends are factory-threaded to standard NPT specifications, allowing direct connection between conduit sections, fittings, enclosures, or junction boxes. This is a field-staple consumable installed by licensed electricians on commercial, industrial, and residential projects wherever a short conduit extension is needed.
The N-50600 is suited for use in conduit systems requiring a 0.5-inch trade-size, 6-inch length nipple. Typical applications include panel and enclosure knockouts, stub-up connections, and conduit-to-conduit extensions in exposed or concealed runs. The galvanized steel construction makes it appropriate for damp or corrosive locations where bare steel would be inadequate. It is used across a wide range of project types including commercial tenant improvements, industrial equipment hookups, and residential service installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for 0.5-inch trade-size threaded rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 344 (RMC) or Article 342 (IMC) requirements. De-energize all circuits in the affected conduit run before beginning work. Use a pipe wrench and appropriate conduit threading tools; apply listed conduit thread compound or tape to all threaded joints to maintain corrosion protection at cut threads. Inspect threads for damage before installation to ensure a secure, code-compliant connection.
