The SOUTHWIRE LRB22 is a malleable iron reducing bushing designed to transition between two conduit or fitting sizes in electrical raceway systems. It steps down from a 2-1/2 inch trade size to a 2 inch trade size, allowing installers to adapt larger-threaded hubs or enclosures to smaller conduit runs without additional fittings. Malleable iron construction provides the mechanical strength and thread integrity required for rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting as a standard component in commercial, industrial, and utility panel work.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in electrical enclosures, junction boxes, meter sockets, and panelboard knockouts where a threaded hub reduction is needed. It is commonly installed in both exposed and concealed conduit systems in commercial and industrial environments. The 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch reduction is a frequently required size pairing in service entrance and branch circuit raceway assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use reducing bushing for rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit systems requiring a 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch threaded reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the enclosure or panel completely before beginning any conduit fitting work. Thread the bushing into the larger hub by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate pipe wrench or strap wrench to ensure a secure, metal-to-metal connection. Avoid over-tightening, which can damage threads on the fitting or enclosure hub.
