The SOUTHWIRE CBGI50 is an insulated grounding bushing designed for use on metal conduit systems in electrical installations. This fitting provides a bonding and grounding connection point at the end of a conduit run, protecting conductors from sharp conduit edges while ensuring a reliable ground path. It is sized for 0.5-inch conduit and is installed by licensed electricians during rough-in or service work on residential and light commercial electrical systems. The insulated throat prevents insulation damage to wires passing through, and the lug or lay-in connector allows a grounding conductor to be fastened securely.
This grounding bushing is suited for use at panelboards, junction boxes, and equipment enclosures where a metallic conduit terminates and a bonding connection is required by code. It is a standard component in conduit wiring methods using rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit. Electricians use it wherever the NEC requires an insulated bushing with a grounding lug at a conduit termination point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for 0.5-inch rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit terminations in residential and commercial electrical applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit terminations and equipment bonding. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before working at the termination point. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end and tighten securely before attaching the bonding conductor to the grounding lug. Do not substitute this bushing for a standard locknut where an insulated grounding bushing is specifically required by code.
