The SOUTHWIRE 46061001 is a 16 AWG 2-conductor solid fire alarm cable rated FPLP (Fire Power Limited Plenum), supplied on a 1000-foot roll in white jacket. FPLP-rated cable is manufactured to meet the plenum-space requirements of NFPA 72 and the National Electrical Code, making it the correct choice when conductors must run through air-handling ducts, ceiling plenums, or other environmental air spaces. The solid conductor construction provides reliable signal continuity in fixed, low-voltage fire alarm and signaling circuits. This cable is designed for licensed fire alarm and electrical contractors working on commercial and light commercial fire detection and notification systems.
This cable is suited for use in plenum-rated fire alarm installations where low-voltage signaling circuits connect initiating devices, notification appliances, and control panels. Typical applications include smoke detector loops, pull station wiring, and horn or strobe notification circuits routed through plenum ceiling spaces. The 1000-foot roll length supports larger commercial jobs and minimizes splice points across long runs. White jacket color aids in identification and is common in suspended ceiling environments.
Designed as an OEM-style plenum fire alarm cable for use in low-voltage 2-conductor solid-wiring applications in NFPA 72 compliant fire alarm systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrical or fire alarm contractor in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC Article 760), and all applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow the panel manufacturer lockout procedures before connecting or splicing conductors. FPLP cable must be installed in plenum or plenum-rated spaces only; do not substitute for riser-rated or general-purpose cable in plenum environments. Support and secure the cable at intervals required by the NEC to prevent physical damage.
