Southwire 31341112 18/2 Solid Plenum Thermostat Wire 1000 Ft

Product Description

The SOUTHWIRE 31341112 is an 18 AWG 2-conductor solid unshielded plenum-rated thermostat wire, supplied in a 1000-foot box in beige. Plenum-rated (CL2P) cables meet the fire-resistance and low-smoke requirements mandated for air-handling spaces, making this wire suitable for installation in ducts, plenums, and other air-circulation areas governed by the National Electrical Code. The solid conductor construction supports reliable low-voltage control signal transmission for thermostat and HVAC control applications. Licensed HVAC technicians and electrical contractors install this wire during new construction and retrofit projects where plenum-rated wiring is required by code.

This wire is used in residential and light commercial HVAC installations to connect thermostats and zone controllers to furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, and related low-voltage control equipment. Its beige jacket blends into standard interior finishes. The 1000-foot box format is suited for contractors running multiple zones or completing large-scale jobs where bulk wire is more efficient than shorter coil packaging.

Key Features

• CL2P plenum rating meets NEC requirements for installation in air-handling spaces
• 18 AWG solid conductor construction for stable low-voltage signal transmission
• 2-conductor configuration for standard single-stage thermostat wiring runs
• 1000-foot bulk box format reduces mid-job restocking on larger installations
• Beige jacket for a clean, unobtrusive appearance in finished spaces
• Unshielded design suited for typical residential and light commercial control circuits

Compatibility

Designed as a standard 18 AWG 2-conductor plenum thermostat wire for use in residential and light commercial low-voltage HVAC control wiring applications where CL2P-rated cable is required.

Installation Notes

Installation must comply with NEC Article 725 requirements for Class 2 low-voltage wiring and any applicable local codes governing plenum-rated cable. De-energize all control circuits and set the thermostat system to off before making or breaking any wiring connections. Use appropriate low-voltage wire strippers and connectors sized for 18 AWG conductors. Plenum-rated cable must not be substituted with non-plenum wire in air-handling spaces, and the reverse substitution is permitted where allowed by the AHJ.
