The SOUTHWIRE 305M is a 1-1/2 inch male/iron (M/I) conduit bushing designed to protect wire insulation at the end of threaded metal conduit runs. The bushing threads onto the end of rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit to create a smooth, rounded entry point that prevents abrasion damage to conductors during pull-through. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting in commercial and industrial conduit systems where NEC compliance requires protection at conduit terminations entering enclosures, panels, and junction boxes.
This conduit bushing is suited for use in both new construction and retrofit electrical installations. It is commonly installed at panel enclosures, pull boxes, and equipment enclosures where threaded rigid or IMC conduit enters a knockout. The 1-1/2 inch trade size accommodates standard conduit of that diameter and is appropriate for commercial, industrial, and heavy residential electrical systems where metallic conduit wiring methods are required.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 1-1/2 inch threaded rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit systems at standard knockout terminations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and lock out the panel before working at any enclosure termination. Thread the bushing fully onto the conduit end before inserting the conduit through the enclosure knockout, then secure with a locknut on the interior side. Do not use the bushing as a sole means of grounding continuity without verifying the full bonding path of the conduit system.
