The SOUTHWIRE 20499001 is a 500-foot roll of 4 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated at 600 volts and 90 degrees C. The conductor is stranded copper insulated with flame-retardant PVC and jacketed with nylon, keeping the overall diameter small enough for easy conduit pulls. This wire is intended for power distribution, lighting circuits, and control wiring in commercial and residential construction. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers. The nylon jacket and PVC insulation resist oil, gasoline, chemicals, and abrasion, making this wire suitable for demanding jobsite environments.
This wire is used in general-purpose electrical installations where THHN-rated conductors are required inside conduit or raceways. Typical applications include branch circuit wiring, feeder runs, lighting panels, and motor control circuits in both new construction and renovation projects. The 500-foot roll length suits mid-to-large panel and feeder rough-in work. The black jacket color is standard for use on phase conductors per common field practice, though local codes govern color assignment.
Designed for use in conduit and raceway systems where THHN or THWN-rated 4 AWG building wire is specified. Suitable for use in metallic and non-metallic conduit, wireways, and cable trays per applicable NEC requirements.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. Use a properly rated wire stripper and lugs sized for 4 AWG conductors. Do not exceed the conductor ampacity ratings listed in NEC Table 310.16 for the installation environment and conduit fill.
