The SOUTHWIRE 183I is a cable staple designed for securing NM-B (non-metallic sheathed) cable during residential and light commercial electrical installations. This fastener holds 14/2 and 12/2 NM-B cable runs firmly against framing members, keeping wiring organized and code-compliant along joists, studs, and rafters. The staple profile is sized to fit standard cable dimensions without pinching or damaging the sheathing. At 26 pounds per package, this is a bulk-quantity item suited for contractors working on new construction or large rewiring projects.
Cable staples of this type are used in residential new construction, renovation, and panel-feed rough-in work where NM-B cable must be secured at regular intervals as required by the NEC. Electricians and apprentices on framing-stage rough-in crews will find this product appropriate for high-volume stapling tasks across multiple circuits and cable runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard supply staple for use with NMC 14/2 and 12/2 non-metallic sheathed cable in residential and light commercial wiring applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified apprentices during the rough-in phase, before walls are closed. NEC Article 334 governs NM-B cable support intervals and staple placement requirements. Do not drive staples so tightly that the cable sheath is deformed or compressed. Always de-energize any adjacent circuits before working near existing wiring.
