The SOUTHWIRE 1668 is a 3-inch insulating bushing designed for use with EMT (Electrical Metallic Tubing) conduit installations. This fitting threads or snaps onto the end of EMT conduit to protect wire and cable insulation from abrasion at the conduit termination point. The bushing creates a smooth, non-metallic bearing surface at the conduit opening, reducing the risk of insulation damage during wire pull-in. Electricians install this bushing at junction boxes, panels, and enclosure knockouts wherever EMT terminates and conductors must be protected from the sharp metal edge of the conduit end.
The 1668 bushing is suited for commercial and residential electrical work where EMT conduit terminates at panels, disconnect enclosures, junction boxes, and other electrical equipment. It is commonly installed by licensed electricians during rough-in and finish electrical work on 3-inch EMT runs that carry larger-gauge conductors or multiple circuit cables requiring conduit protection.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with standard 3-inch EMT conduit systems in commercial and residential electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the panel or enclosure before terminating conduit and installing the bushing. Seat the bushing fully onto the conduit end before pulling conductors through to ensure consistent insulation protection. Inspect the bushing for cracks or deformation before use, as a damaged bushing will not provide adequate wire protection.
