The SOUTHWIRE 14-4C-250 SHIELDED is a shielded multi-conductor cable engineered for mini split system wiring applications. It features 14 AWG conductors in a 4-conductor configuration with an integrated shield layer that suppresses electromagnetic interference common in variable-speed inverter-driven mini split systems. The 250-foot reel format reduces the need for mid-run splices on longer residential and light commercial runs. HVAC technicians and electricians use this cable for both new installations and service replacements where a shielded cable type is specified by the equipment manufacturer.
This cable is suited for low-voltage communication and power wiring between indoor air handlers and outdoor condensing units in ductless mini split systems. The shielded design addresses signal integrity concerns in installations near other electrical runs or in commercial environments with elevated EMI. The 250-foot reel length supports multiple standard residential runs or a single extended commercial run without a junction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation cable for ductless mini split systems requiring shielded 14 AWG 4-conductor interconnecting wire between indoor and outdoor units.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or HVAC technician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and local codes governing low-voltage and branch-circuit wiring. Disconnect and lock out all power to the indoor and outdoor units before routing or terminating any cable. Maintain minimum bend radius to avoid damaging the shield layer, and ensure the shield is terminated properly at the equipment end per the manufacturer wiring diagram. Do not exceed the cable ampacity rating for the conductors as specified by the applicable NEC table.
