The SOUTHWARK METAL WS21_2-1/4X10 is a hot dip galvanized steel end cap designed to terminate wall stack duct runs in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Sized at 2.25 inches by 10 inches, it closes off the open end of a sheet metal wall stack, preventing conditioned air loss and blocking debris, pests, and drafts from entering the duct cavity. The hot dip galvanization process provides a durable corrosion-resistant coating suited for interior and enclosed-wall applications. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators are the primary trades who specify and install this component.
This end cap is used on wall stack duct assemblies, which are narrow rectangular ducts routed vertically inside interior wall cavities to deliver supply air to floor-level or baseboard registers. The 2.25-inch by 10-inch profile matches a standard wall stack dimension found in many forced-air residential heating and cooling systems. It is appropriate for new construction duct installations as well as replacement or retrofit work where an existing wall stack end requires a proper termination cap. Installations must conform to ACCA and SMACNA ductwork standards.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with 2.25-inch by 10-inch wall stack duct systems in residential forced-air heating and cooling installations built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal duct installers. Shut down the air handling system and confirm the system is not pressurized before fitting the end cap onto the duct opening. Secure the cap using sheet metal screws or approved duct fasteners per SMACNA guidelines. All ductwork connections should be sealed with listed duct sealant or mastic per local mechanical code requirements.
